Our Story
Back to Nature began in 1999 — a small place, close to Bukit Lawang, born from a dream and a deep love for the forest.
Aca, our founder, started with a simple idea: to live close to nature. But as time passed, he realized he wasn’t ready to call himself part of the jungle just yet. He saw how NGOs, despite their efforts, often failed to protect the forest effectively. So he made a decision — not to wait for change, but to become part of it.
One plot at a time, he began buying land. Forest land. Land that would otherwise be lost. His dream was not to develop it, but to protect it — to let it stay wild.
In the heart of that forest, he built a small lodge — not just for visitors, but for himself. A place where he could wake up to the sound of gibbons, watch orangutans drink from the river, and live the life he had once only imagined.
Today, that dream continues. Back to Nature is more than a place to stay — it’s part of a quiet resistance against deforestation. Every room you sleep in, every path you walk, supports the forest that still stands.
