Not a conventional hotel
Back to Nature is hidden beyond Bukit Lawang village, between the river and rainforest. There is no road to our door. Your stay begins with a walk along the Bohorok River as village noise gives way to birds, water and forest.
Our rooms are intentionally simple: mosquito nets, natural airflow, spring water and the sounds of the jungle. Come for privacy, connection and a place that feels genuinely away.

From our comfortable main rooms to an adventurous camp setup, each option has its own rhythm and character.
Four upstairs rooms in the main lodge, overlooking the river and rainforest. The most comfortable choice for guests who want a private bathroom and the strongest Wi-Fi.
Our largest stand-alone stay, set uphill from the main lodge. Quiet, spacious and ideal for couples or families who value extra privacy and panoramic rainforest views.
A rustic two-storey hideaway in the garden. The sleeping space is upstairs with a small balcony—a characterful choice for travelers who prefer simplicity and atmosphere.
A simple mattress, mosquito net and sheltered camp setup close to nature. Often used after a trek or when rooms are full—best for adventurous guests who enjoy the basics.

Good to know
There is no road access. Staff meet you in the village and porters can carry heavy luggage.
No air-conditioning and no hot shower. The river air, spring water and forest set the rhythm.
Solar power supports daytime use, with the generator generally running into the evening until around midnight.
Our restaurant serves fresh meals, with vegetarian and vegan options available.
Connection is available, strongest around the main lodge. The remote setting can still affect service.
Bring personal toiletries, suitable walking shoes and a light bag. Toilet paper is not supplied by default.
A slow forest ritual
Set in a rustic hut beside the river, our warm herbal bath uses plants grown around Back to Nature. It is a private, grounding way to rest after trekking while looking out toward the forest and water.
IDR 200,000 per person. Please reserve ahead—the water and herbs need time to prepare. Suitable for one or two guests at a time.
